Ash frontman Tim Wheeler joins The Mixtape to celebrate 30 years of the band's classic debut album 1977 and their return to Australia.

Tim looks back on the extraordinary period when Ash went from recording singles during school holidays to playing Glastonbury, appearing on Top of the Pops, touring the world and scoring a UK number-one album — all while still in their teens.

He reveals how the band got away with using a Star Wars sound effect on Lose Control, explains why he wouldn't change 1977 three decades later, and talks about his enduring love for Girl From Mars.

Tim also builds his own six-track Mixtape, taking us through The Jackson 5, Bryan Ferry, Oasis, Mass Gothic and The Cure — and explains why, given the chance to send a song back to his 18-year-old self, he'd simply steal Wonderwall before Oasis could release it.

Plus: Ash's bizarre pre-show ritual, breaking a tooth on stage, disastrous gigs and the concert Tim would travel through time to see.
